Two Spirits

In January 2009, Kay Klose invited me to do an interactive mural at Two Spirits Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska.  I designed the mural to actively engage the gallery viewers in the making of a community art piece.  I would invite two participants to work together on the mural. One would pose in front of a light while the other traced the shadow cast onto a canvas surface. The shadow tracings eventually made an intricate web that participants painted in fragment by fragment. In two days the thirty foot mural was created by over forty people.  It now hangs in the Ship Creek Building in Anchorage.
